I conduct trainings for hospitals and health care providers in communication skills that improve the ability to communicate with patients and their families, particularly following a medical error, adverse event or unanticipated outcome. [See my CV for a list of the trainings.] My colleague Carol B. Liebman, a retired clinical professor at Columbia Law School, and I have written about trainings we have conducted for physicians and other health care providers. Here are our writings on training: “Medical Error Disclosure, Mediation Skills, and Malpractice Litigation: A Demonstration Project in Pennsylvania” (2005) | LINK “A Mediation Skills Model to Manage Disclosure of Errors and Adverse Events to Patients” (2004) Health Affairs 23: 22-32. |
